From Wild Rivers to High Alpine

By the Numbers

Summer at Crescent Spur

We have been welcoming heli-skiing guests to Crescent Spur since 1992. Our summer program offers a new way to experience this remote part of British Columbia through heli fly-fishing and small-group heli-hiking.

Couples, families and friends can choose different activities during the day while sharing the same lodge experience. Everyone returns in the late afternoon for snacks, drinks, dinner and a relaxed evening together.

Best for Anglers

Heli Fly-Fishing

Heli-assisted access is combined with rafts, jet boats and walk-and-wade fishing to reach remote rivers, mountain creeks and subalpine lakes. Our guides select the best water each day based on weather, water, fishing and aviation conditions.

Fish for wild bull trout and rainbow trout using streamers, dry flies and nymphs. Each guide works with only two anglers, and all fishing is catch-and-release using barbless hooks.

Best for Hikers

Heli-Hiking

Travel directly into the alpine with an ACMG guide to explore ridgelines, wildflower meadows, mountain lakes and glaciers. With fewer guests, the route and pace can be tailored to the interests and abilities of the group.

Days may range from relaxed alpine walks to more challenging routes involving ridgelines, scrambling, glacier travel or light mountaineering.

Best of Both

Fish and Hike During the Same Stay

Our combination package includes two days of heli fly-fishing and two days of heli-hiking. It is ideal for guests who want to experience both the remote waterways and alpine terrain surrounding Crescent Spur.

Guests travelling together do not need to choose the same package. One person may fish for all four days while another hikes or divides their time between the two activities. All activities must be arranged before arrival.

    Common Questions

    Summer, answered

When does the summer season operate?

Our summer fishing and hiking season runs during July and August. Current dates and availability are listed with our summer packages.

Yes. Anglers and hikers can choose different packages while staying at the lodge together. Combination packages are also available for guests who want to divide their own activity days between fishing and hiking. All activities must be confirmed before arrival.

We accommodate up to eight anglers when there are no hikers, with one guide for every two anglers. When fishing and hiking operate during the same departure, we can accommodate up to five hikers. Larger hiking groups may be possible when fewer anglers are staying at the lodge, depending on lodge capacity, guide availability and the helicopter schedule.

Most guests fly into Prince George Airport, where we provide a scheduled transfer to the lodge. The drive takes approximately two hours. Guests may also drive directly to Crescent Spur from Jasper, Mount Robson or other destinations along Highway 16.

We typically use a Bell 206 Jet Ranger for our summer program. The specific aircraft may vary based on availability and operational requirements. An AStar or another suitable helicopter may sometimes be used.
